Chris Young, the director and treasurer of America PAC, testified that the recipients are vetted ahead of time, to “feel out their personality, (and) make sure they were someone whose values aligned” with the group.

So it’s a scam designed to get ordinary people to align with the policies of the richest man on earth for the promise of monetary reward that never will actually materialize. Or, as it’s known in the US, Republican politics.

Remember when Elon said he’d “open source the algorithm”? Then he released a selection of arbitrary source code files mostly consisting of enums that tell us basically nothing about ranking, cut off access to APIs that researchers could use to study the site, and suddenly Republicans and alt-right content started showing up in everyone’s timeline…

It encourages self-reliance and fosters a sense of control. Sure everything in our lives is increasingly forced on us by corporations run by out of touch narcissists, but there’s at least one way we still can have control of our own.

Just get drones to drop a trail of food to a POW camp.

I used to work with Ukrainian contractors at a company I left before the war started. I always wonder if those guys are doing ok. I guess as the picture shows, being a software dev doesn’t mean you stay out of combat.

The tip is also often pocketed by the owner because of the way a tipped wage works (basically if there aren’t enough tips to cover minimum wage, it’s as if you are tipping the owner), and also the payment provider (square or whatever) takes a cut of the tip and whatever fees too. Every dollar should be regarded as going to the owner and/or silicon valley billionaires no matter what, the whole notion of paying staff is smoke and mirrors.

Let’s be real, teenagers are always assholes. There’s a lot of social pressure for teens to be assholes. Look at any teen movie for example, the plot is pretty much always about how adults are wrong about everything and how freeing yourself to be more of an asshole (and generally louder in every way) is the way to go.

When the leaders treat the soldiers like their lives don’t matter, it’s only a matter of time before they start to believe the same thing themselves.

This is what I see a lot of from Elon supporters - holding him to a much lower standard than themselves. You say you have a similar situation, but then you still recognize that Putin is utter and complete shit. Well, Elon doesn’t and uses his child’s transition as an excuse to believe all sorts of horrible things. You can feel free to look down on him and would be correct to do so.

He’s said nothing about it on his twitter, instead doing the usual boosting of misinformation about US politics. The silence says a lot.
