Playing the original Half-Life is like a formative gaming memory for me… It had been such a massive leap from your DOOM 2s and Dukes Nukem. I was super young though, so I don’t know how much I cared about the narrative.

HL2, on the other hand…Now that I remember vividly. I remember having to use five CDs to install it because Steam had literally just been invented (for HL2). Having to create a Steam account and log into a service to play a game was so foreign at the time lol…

Might be time to re-play.

This might only be true for people who played the original when it first came out (or at least, were playing video games at that time, and are used to the dated graphics).

Also, to add to this: if you haven’t played Portal and Portal 2, then you need to do that now. Like possibly even before HL

If you’re gonna start with 1, I recommend playing Black Mesa as the updated graphics and qol stuff make it easier to tolerate in modern times.

But that’s just me. There is probably some crucial reason why Black Mesa is not the definitive version, and I’m about to hear why

A good broth can take a long time to develop if you’re trying to do it well. And sometimes I’m sick and it’s all I can keep down.

I guess I’m the only person that just can’t get into the gameplay loop of building things to make things that allow you to build more things to make things…etc.

Well I imagine you would unwrap the sandwich and have it prepped for eating before pulling away from the place where the sandwich was purchased… And you don’t need a different surface, you just keep the paper it was wrapped in on your lap, and put it on that.

Do all of y’all really need to look down at your sandwich while eating it?

Obviously, it’s more distracting than sipping coffee, but I would argue that sandwiches are one of the better driving foods. Far better than anything involving a utensil.

Dry out of the box would be a pretty solid driving food if you’re into that, so it was a fair question.

See, I disagree. I feel like a sandwich (and particularly, a long roll) makes it easier to eat without having to look at the thing you’re eating. It’s a great driving food.

Unless we’re talking meatball subs or something. Just keep the paper on your lap (maybe put a napkin or two under that if you want to be sure nothing gets on your pants), and go to town without having to look down.

Better than anything requiring utensils, that’s for sure.

I have trouble imagining someone wanting Subway enough to wait in a line for it. Trash food.

This is a very large country, and the culture (alcohol in particular) varies wildly by location.

No it isn’t. This is a state-by-state thing. Many states don’t allow you to consume alcohol in public, period. Some don’t care (I think Louisiana is pretty lax regarding this if I recall?)

I’m relatively new to Linux, so I don’t really have any experience pre-proton. But I get the feeling that there are TONS of people who haven’t tried it in years, that truly do not understand how far it has come. I’m sure they’ve heard that before, etc., but I can say that it’s 100% true this time.

If you haven’t tried gaming on Linux since before the Steam Deck came out, I implore you to give it another shot. Even better if you use a gaming-oriented distro (I’m on Bazzite now, and it has been wonderful).

Admittedly, I don’t play any games with anti-cheat, but my linux gaming experience over the past two years or so has been outstanding. I don’t believe I have encountered a single game that I have wanted to play, but could not. And 99.9% of them work without any tweaking required.
