I dont think I could dislike the name any more than I do.

Radio Free Asia is a CIA front for info dissemination so anyone who’s aware of that would rightfully be skeptical of ‘Radio Free ______’
That would make more sense if this was their first time putting this bill forward, but it’s not. They’ve tried this before and none of the other Democrats could be chuffed to stand behind it. This isn’t new.
I bet dems would be more open to ranked choice if more people voted for third parties, because as long as the population believes they must vote Democrat or Republican and no one else, neither of those parties have any incentive to change. If lesser evilism stops getting people to vote for the two ruling parties, then there would be incentive for them to change. Short of that you’re relying on politicians to do the right thing instead of the profitable thing, which is a fools game.
So three of the more than 250 elected democrats are trying, not for the first time by the way, to get the rest of their party to take it seriously. Talk to me when more than 2% of the Democrats do something about it because otherwise its basically just a platitude.

Its funny because there’s a user assuming the astro turf is going the other direction and they’re getting mostly up voted. Too many people are thinking with their feelings instead of their brain.
Im fully against public down votes becaue I already see people calling out other users by their name in threads they’re not even part of. Theres no world where that behavior gets better when you give them more tools to witch hunt. Lemmy is as much an insular echo chamber as any social media and there are plenty of users dedicated to keeping it that way.
Theres a special place in hell for mobile ad designers. They’re honestly borderline scams at this point.
Fun place to remind everyone that the elder scrolls six teaser video is over 6 years old now too.
Ahh good call, I hated their official app.
Thats the neat part, you don’t. Social medias value isn’t determined by it’s tech. Its value is determined by who and what you can interact with. For example, people wont leave Facebook because everyone they know is on facebook because people won’t leave Facebook. Twitter is literally run by a nazi at this point and still it’s the same story where Mastodon and Bluesky aren’t even close. Same thing for reddit and lemmy. Lemmy simply doesn’t have the content reddit does, look no further than sports subreddits where any given game has a live game thread with a hundred or more unique commentors.
If you want mode people to come here you’re going to need to do two things. One you need to post content people want to see, and two you need to get very very lucky because as it stands if you don’t care enough about decentralization to lose out of a lot of content, theres literally no reason to be here. Its a long slow road and you’re still going to need reddit to do something stupid before we see another growth spike.
Ugh Ive heard them on 40m near me too. Even some 144Mhz nets will have someone fishing for more believers occasionally.
I don’t really work CW, but good thing I can translate without trying to to keep pace. 73 friend.
This is honestly what ham radio is.
As long as you have the ability to speak, the phrase ‘Im up to 100% dead’ will be true.
I have horrible spelling skills and am very prone to typos on phone keyboards even when I can spell, so sometimes I just leave my mistakes in there just so they know I’m real, totally not becaus I’m a lazy writer.
Oh I won’t, dude woke up a bug and tried to go to work still. If I so much as stub my toe in the morning I’ll just go back to bed and try again tomorrow. Though I do relate with how it took him a dozen pages to get out of bed.
Right now im reading Kafka so im trying not to adopt too much of it into my lexicon or people may think im more autistic than I actually am.
Did the person who named the station know, or did they not research the name they ended up choosing? Its been declassified, it’s on Wikipedia. It strikes me as anywhere from unlikely to unresponsible that the guy didn’t research what he intended to use for a name.
