  • I also asked among the contributors if you should accept any form of money or NLnet funding or anything in that regard. Our common conclusion was: NO. Because we are doing it for fun, asking money will only create a situation were you might even feel more obligated.

In regards to NLNet, you should know how it works. NLNet doesn’t give you money upfront and then expect stuff. You decide on a list of tasks to do and then complete them on our own time and get paid for each you complete. This reduces the pressure, as you can choose to handle these tasks as frequent as you want.

Then again. with NLNet getting defunded by EU, it’s likely most new can’t receive funding anymore.

Recently, a very dedicated contributor did left Mbin sadly without any announcement. This person is still being missed to this day

Man, I know the exact feeling. We had a similar case in our FOSS project of a valuable contributor going suddenly MIA, even blocking us out of pypi in the process. It hurts.

  • Honestly I think there’s pretty gold interop already between lemmy and mastodon. There’s some difficulty with seeing the the images from each other primarily and a way to reply to cross post / boost a mastodon note into a lemmy post so that replies are visible by the op in mastodon would be a killer feature, but everything else works.

I kinda agree that following mastodon accounts is out of scope for lemmy as the concept of following the doesn’t make sense within the link aggregate concept. It would require lemmy devs to add a whole microblogging architecture for follows to make sense.

  • Ye I don’t particularly agree that one should try to make vegetarian cats myself either and I also think it’s not coop to simply delete opposing research which doesn’t mean match one’s worldview (so long as the research is not flawed). But I also understand and can painfully see how embattled vegan ideas and spaces are which explains them being extra defensive

Sorry mate, but there’s no point in talking to you anymore. All you do is trying to ragebait and win the internet argument and there’s no point in wasting time on that.

I repeat that people should look for themselves in the discussions the vegans had in public and in their own threads where they didn’t have to be so defensive and adversarial in the face of rando hate. If you’re interested, see for yourselves whether they were unscientific or not but please don’t trust summaries like these who just want to make you dismiss radicals vegans without further thought.

I haven’t seen them try to push misinfo. If anything, I’ve seen them post scientific articles supporting their claims and accepting that it’s an imperfect solution for an imperfect world.

And yes, very radical people will have some radical fucking takes. Y’all are using this as a foothold to promote generalize anti-vegan hate in this thread. There’s no nuance anymore, just bashing.

And yes, just trying to make people angry by painting all vegans as “let’s feed our cats veggies, YOLO” when their approach was way more careful and nuanced, is fucked up
