This is also why I often buy games on gog that I already “own” on steam.

Probably why I own this game on 3 different platforms now lol
The steam deck is also amazing, such a nice piece of hardware. I’ve been gaming on Linux for years and I’m surprised how well it works. Feels like a console.
It unknowingly interferes with my security or privacy, 100%. It has root access. What’s it doing in there? Nowadays you’re naive to think it’s just to prevent game cheating. I guarantee they’re collecting all kinds of information.
I kind of assumed it would be packaged with each game, a waste of space (but how big could it be?) but leaving a game with anti cheat a global dependency seems like a bad idea.
Lots of games with anti cheat auto work under wine/proton. The most on top of my head example is Elden ring. Runs fine on my desktop with arch, as well as my steam deck.
Heroes of might and magic 3, but I feel like it might not have the same appeal if it did happen. Happy to be proven wrong, of course 🙂
Overload exists. While not a remake, it is the spiritual successor with the original development team making it.
I remember this. Not sure if I ever did it though
This reminds me of when I had a PS3 and I used to run Linux on it.
It still blows my mind that it’s not illegal to sell a consumer something, then remove functionality after they’ve got your money.
Good ol’ corporate bait and switch.
I know it is… Fun fact, my desktop is also running Arch Linux btw :P
🤣🤣 I totally read it that way
Yes I know it is, lil bro/sis. I’m more referring to how I can stream my higher end games from my PC to this PC.
I just got a steam deck. What a compliment to my PC.
I still remember hanging out in a few of them around this time of year when stuff was decked out Halloween themed. Never did beat the expansions. Crazy how little detail the game seems to have by today’s standards 🤣
Recovered my account a couple years ago with support and providing my og serials. Can’t believe it worked but it punched me in the face nostalgia-wise when I got into it.
To be fair, it’s just because windows is the most used and common desktop operating system and the two OSs are different. People would be confused about windows too if the tables were turned.
I was gonna say SNES harvest moon.
I agree. I have so many games in my backlog that using this method has worked to keep myself under control lol
Sometimes they’re not on gog and I want to play them. Other times it’s 4$ on steam and 50$ on gog. I’ll buy it for 4 on steam so I can play it, then wait for the sale on gog down the road. Sometimes it’s a convenience thing cause I have a steam deck and it’s just nice to deal with native compatibility.
