The bigger issue to me are games that were removed from steam and I can no longer get.

The Mummy (Brendan Fraser) is a reboot and it is amazing, but I meant more in-universe continuation as a show. Like Ash vs Evil Dead, which was also fantastic.

Yup, all visible. The only exceptions are fully private instances (or mostly private, with limited federation) and local only communities.

kbin/mbin also make all these votes public, so you could even just be on an mbin server and see all the votes. So right now its like… jumping over an 8" high hurdle. Or doing the limbo under a pole at 5’. You have to do something, just not much. I wouldn’t call it completely non-trivial to do, but it isn’t rocket surgery either.

As far as I know right now, IP and such details are your instance only.

Votes, however, are visible across any instance. I agree its a transparency issue. Right now I think a of of folks believe their votes to be anonymous (or only visible to their instance admins at most), but that’s not true at all.

Anyone can stand up an instance though. So its available for anyone to look at right now.

I absolutely agree that its a problem. The problem is there is nothing stopping companies/governments from doing that now, and I don’t know if its feasible to make them actually private on Lemmy.

Right now, they aren’t private, you just need a few extra steps to see it all.

The problem is its already pretty public, just for mods and admins, and non-lemmy instances.

While I agree its not ideal to have everything be public, given it functionally already is, this just makes it easier for users to see. Right now its a minor hurdle, but still a hurdle - but your votes are not really private/anonymous to start with.

For office attire or going out, sure.

If you’re doing repair work, running lines, etc, a watch is the choice. Your hands are busy, so a watch is what you need (Except for specific trades where you don’t want to risk it getting caught in machinery).

I can say with 100% certainty that I know large swaths of folks in their 20’s and 30’s who regularly wear watches. Some smart, some digital, some analog.

Different profiles on Firefox are nowhere near Chrome.

I’m still going to use FF, but there are areas it lags behind Chrome. That’s the only big one for me.

For Fedora, it’s three commands:

sudo dnf copr enable patrickl/yabridge

sudo dnf install yabridge --refresh

After a wine update, run:

yabridgectl sync

And AV Linux is one dev yeah, but it doesn’t much matter. It’s just a tweaked build, it’s based on MX so you’re still getting all the updates needed, just with some config changes more or less.

Fwiw I use straight Debian, but I’ve also been using Debian for so long that it’s graduated college, met a partner, got married and is considering kids.

Ubuntu I avoid these days because I think Canonical is running it into the toilet, with so many bad decisions (snaps, pro subscription, etc) that I just won’t touch it.

That said, AV Linux is essentially deb based anyway (MX is based on Debian), so it’s a nice setup if you don’t want to have to think about your kernel.

Fedora I also like, I’m just less of a yum/dnd guy than an apt guy (which I have literally typed into RHEL machines before remembering I was being an idiot).
