Shadow Play, season 2 episode 26.
Swifties leaving X is the most unimportant thing I’ve read in a while, and I’m on Lemmy.
I like hats.
There’s no way that’s more important than anything else going on in the world today.
You’ve got to spell and pronounce it slightly incorrect.
I’ve got a friend who was slightly too old when the word yeet became popular. He decided he would use it confidently, often, and incorrect. He still does.
He’s excited to embarrass his kids by doing that with whatever the current slang is when they are 12 or 13.
Also in Texas and I was surprised at the line for early voting when I went. Usually I just walk in and walk out because there’s no one there before election day.
Some states (I want to say Mississippi?) have no early voting and only absentee ballots with a good excuse. So yeah, a federal holiday or some provision for time off to vote would be awesome.
That sounds way less fun. You go ahead and calculate how many fewer steps like a nerd and I’ll tumble around in one like a cool person.
Fewer steps if you get going fast enough and just ride tumbling ass over tea kettle.
Either/or. I’m disgruntled either way.
You’re not one of them Starry Wisdom bastards are you? I joined that cult church and they wouldn’t even let me look through their occult library.
I have also traveled here from the 80’s and I’m here to tell you one thing:
That sounds like their fucking problem. If that’s all that is stopping you then you get your tiny gym shorts and crop top, friend.
I’d be pissed if I had to repurchase a $20-30 tape measure.
Defederation makes it so that figuring out which instance to sign up with in order to see your friends and local businesses (since we’re talking about vs Facebook instead of Twitter or Reddit) would be a nightmare for the average person.
I have multiple accounts on some services trying to get to everything I want to see. I mostly gave up on Pixelfed. My main Mastodon account can see people on other instances but has problems seeing their posts. And I’m absolutely not willing to troubleshoot it because between work, a social life, and other hobbies I just don’t have the time or give a shit.
I like the fediverse. I’m here. I use it. But I’m only going to use what’s convenient and I promise that I have more patience than the average non tech person who wants to sign up using a linked Gmail account and see all the things they expect to see without having to think about it.
Edit: I think my brain skipped the last two sentences in that comment. I just sat here and bitched about something that was already mentioned. I have brought nothing to this discussion and have brought shame upon my house.
I went to your profile expecting to see you modding and commenting on a community about how great it is to subjugate others or something. I forget that some folks hate sports so much that they also don’t want others to enjoy sports.
So I did a little research. Along with what you heard, rolling may be the only way to do it. Hypertapping may not be fast enough.
As a drunk language model I do not have that information.
I say dumb shit from time to time, especially while drunk, and I’ve noticed after that I tend to have several comments in a row downvoted pretty quickly no matter the subject or thread. Things that are completely unrelated.
I’m not saying that’s what happened here, it’s just a trend I’ve noticed.
Some guy played to level 255 and it rolled back to level 0, (that’s the rebirth). Then he played to level 91 after that. To answer an unasked but important question: he did it on a ROM and not a cartridge because it’s pretty damn likely a cartridge would have crashed long before this point. Even on this particular ROM there are a bunch of ways to crash it (there’s loads of them documented).
Reading your comment is how I found out. That makes me sad.
It does. There are some upsides, though. One bonus is that, at least in some small ways, some of these shitbag companies that have acted terribly in the past are letting up because we have options. We don’t have to rely on a couple of big studios for every game we play. So EA has backed off of their terrible launcher.
I also think it’s kind of cool that any schmuck can make their dream come true. I’ve definitely put out a bunch of music that I don’t market, just because I always wanted to do it. Anyone with an idea and a laptop can code up a game. The ridiculous amount of shovelware aside, I think that’s pretty cool.
I just wish there was a better way to sift through the dreck to find the good stuff.
This is a HUGE reason. I didn’t know when I first signed up for Lemmy that I was on what is essentially a tankie instance. I didn’t know when I signed up for Pixelfed that I wasn’t going to be able to see shit because the first server I signed up for wasn’t really federated with anyone and I’ve mostly given up on it. I still can’t see a bunch of stuff on Mastodon without switching through several accounts with no rhyme or reason.
I’ve said before that I obviously like it here because I’m using the services, but it’s not easy. Most people don’t know about the fediverse, and most of those that do want to be passive about maintaining their social media. Most of the fediverse is built for nerds.
