Bills don’t often get passed on the first try. If anything you should be critical that this is only the second time, it ought to be a constant attempt to change a system that seemingly everyone not making a profit from is against. I’ll also say that the only way anything like this will get passed is through the left, the right does not want everyone to get a vote. So it will likely fail again somewhere unless the ratio of left-right shifts. As is true of any bills that favor the public good.

Bills are often started by one or a few people to get voted on by others. It will be resisted, but not by the side that would do well with a ranked choice with other left-sided third parties.

You’re correct on all those, but OP was talking about people who praise the Affordable Care Act but vote for politicians who say they want to get rid of Obamacare. Those people aren’t using the system but want better, they are just ignorant that the two are the same thing.

Now we absolutely could do better, but it’s better than what we had, and Republicans still want to get rid of it, even with less ties to Obama in name now. They truly hate people.

I have a Tesla store near my work, and I’ve been seeing a few of them drive by lately. Each time, even seeing them coming, I still have a WTF reaction. That is a god awful looking vehicle. Even if it was of good quality. I drew better trucks in crayon when I was 5.

  • Totally agree. The Atheist’s Wager works far better if you’re going to gamble on any deity or afterlife. In short, be a good person. If the controlling entity decides you’re doomed after being a good person, then you were screwed in the first place. If there’s no gods to do anything, you still had a good life and benefited others.

  • There are some high quality places out there, Subway has always been the McDs of subs. I feel they started to go downhill when they stopped cutting the v notch in the bread to stuff it full and just went with boring halves.

I will say to those thinking $5 should remain the price - we were okay with $5 subs a decade or more ago, but now asking more is too much? Inflation is a thing. $5 purchasing power in 1990 is now $12 in 2024. The argument shouldn’t be about the price increase, as it should have crept up this whole time. But the quality should have at least remained the same, and the workers fairly paid. The price of the sub is the least of the problems.
