1 heaping teaspoon salt.

Put rice, salt, and water in pot.

Bring to boil. Stir a little to keep rice from sticking too much.

Soon as it boils, take off heat, put heat to low, then put pot back on heat and put a lid on it.

~ 20 minutes later, check. Should not be any water in the bottom of the pot. If no water, eat!

I’m gonna disagree. I followed the instruction set here on lemmy and the original on reddit using ubuntu server. It wouldn’t work. The directions are not for someone unfamiliar with linux files. There were gaps in the information that were written for people who understand the unsaid parts on how things are put together in linux, not for an “idiot like myself”.

I gave up after two days and multiple reinstalls after docker kept refusing to load. There was nothing automatic about it.

I’m no apple fan, but some of these features don’t really mean much, like the screen refresh rate, data transfer rate, or codec support. Pretty small subset of users are going to care about these, the vast majority of people just browse, play simple games, and maybe run a map or spotify or whatever.

That said, the 16 is built to use Apple’s AI, and that’s pretty much reason enough for me to not want to go anywhere near it. I’ll buy an older model before I support this AI crap.

I really don’t know where you’re getting your info. I grew up in CA and there’s no way SoCal gets more water of any kind unless it’s piped in. This precip map also proves that. The Sierras and Northern California get way more rain/snow than the San Gabriel or Bernardino mountains “scrape” out of the sky. The Sierras are a huge range compared to them, and when they do get snow, that water feeds into the lakes and rivers in the Valley. The precipitation map clearly shows SoCal can’t match any precipitation further up the state past Tehachapi.

What? Source that SoCal has more than the San Joaquin…unless you mean they’ve already pumped way too much water out of the valley. Hell, there’s water piped from the Valley to L.A., so if SoCal has that much water they shouldn’t need Valley water?

I’d rather keep the status quo. While I realize that the vote visibility can play into the hands of mod/admin/instance owners with nefarious or petty vengeful purposes, we also can see who bad actors are in the vote system - iow a bot or person perpetually downvoting subjects they disagree with yet not participating.

But people need to be aware that the votes are not private.

We could split the difference and users could get auto-notified if their vote was viewed and by whom. That way it’s a two-way street. The mod/admin can see your votes, the users know that their vote was accessed by that mod.

Second choice would be that all users are anonymized by a hash so that bad vote actors can be removed via their hash being associated with malicious or other bad acting, but to discover who individuals are the admin would have to do the legwork of follonf multiple posts/ comments to associate the hash.

No perfect solution.

No excuses, I use FB. I’ve turned my feed into mostly hobby and other interest groups so that it’s more like reddit or the Fediverse. I viciously “x” any ads I see as soon as they show up. Seems it takes a bit for FB to look at my account and try to tailor me some ads so I get a week give or take of ad-free fb. It’s actually a useful social media if you force it to conform to what you want and make it hard for FB to abuse you.

Tried Threads, don’t like the format, and the comments and questions are every bit as stupid as FB reels or YT shorts. Insta sucks.

Multiplayer games used to have single payer storylines. Even franchises like CoD had some really fun and memorable ones (Snowy Park, anyone? “No Russian”?) and of course GTAV in general. Now it’s all just Battle Royale or some other standard FPS mode. There’s little inbetween.
