No, crows guarded the Wall. The messenger birds were ravens.
I’m back on my bullshit.

Goodridge, aged forty when she completed the miniature, depicts breasts that appear imbued with a “balance, paleness, and buoyancy” by the harmony of light, color, and balance.
There’s no way her tits looked like that at 40. No sir, I’m not buying it. 🐴
what happened??
Nanni (1750 B.C.E.) found that the quality of copper ingots from Dilmun specifically acquired and delivered by merchant Ea-nāṣir of Mesopotamia was substandard and thus not acceptable for trade.
Lemming in undergrad: 📄👈😮
no problem
put me in the screenshot!
I think there is a major difference between chemical weapons and bombs that can be used for terrorist attacks versus nuclear ICBMs. One thing is to invade a country that can use chlorine gas against our troops, but placing the existence of our country and possibly humanity on the line is another thing entirely. Iraq could have potentially used gas attacks against it’s population, allied populations and troops. However, Russia could nuke the hell out of NATO and cause a catastrophic worldwide famine for decades.
According to a June analysis from the Center for Strategic & International Studies, the People’s Liberation Army Navy now boasts the largest maritime force on the planet, with 234 warships to the US Navy’s fleet of 219 them not to.
I’ve always heard the following fun facts:
The world’s largest air force by number of planes is the US Air Force. The world’s 2nd largest air force is the US Navy.
The world’s 2nd largest navy by number of water vessels is the US Navy. The world’s largest navy is the US Army.
Maybe #2 isn’t true anymore?
what do you mean by private communities?
that’s a barometer for landing. it measures relative air speed, then subtracts the plane speed. there’s another one on the other side for plane speed that measures relative air speed, then subtracts the wind speed calculated from the barometer.
That way, the pilots can get to the ground first and cushion the impact of the helo 👌
Yeah, but we gotta eat first. Let’s do it after lunch 👌
give or take half an hour
I still appreciate Lemmy more. It’s more intimate and people are way more respectful. Also, Reddit is full of shit comments. Lemmy comments aren’t perfect or amazing, but I visited Reddit this week looking for memes (agree with your point on quantity of memes) and perused the comments. I forgot how stupid and formulaic Reddit can be. I’m really happy that didn’t transfer over to Lemmy.
That was really interesting! Thanks for sharing. The part that got me the most was the experience of the Civil War soldiers. They had it terrible.
Can you tell us more about the steamboat boilers pls? How often did they explode, were there any famous incidents, and why did they explode?
Ah, that makes sense. Thanks for explaining. What’s the relevant story with JK Rowling?
Honest question: Why does it matter if he’s a transphobe when choosing which Fediverse software to use? The software is FOSS and anyone can make their own instance. I don’t understand why his social views outside of sharing the software and protecting it from becoming proprietary matters when deciding what Fediverse software to use.
I’m not arguing my stance. I really want to understand what I might be missing.
Big money. Big prizes. I love it!
