That seems like a pretty unwarranted assumption to me. Trump’s decision-making tends to be driven by what benefits him personally rather than by any consistent ideology. I don’t see how helping Russia win would serve his interests. Even though many on the right might admire how certain things are handled in Russia, they still largely view them as the number one adversary of the US. It’s hard to imagine Trump so openly siding with Russia in such a direct way, especially when doing so could alienate his base.
