I got flamed a couple months ago for mentioning Soviet War Crimes in WW2.
I can’t believe some people refuse to admit all war crimes are bad end of discussion. I don’t care who committed it, a war crime is a war crime which is inherently bad.
My favorite detail is how, either through incompetence or malice, John didn’t make the hole in the gallows big enough. As a result each Nazi that made the plunge smashed his face on the way down.
There is a fundamental mistake in seeing continuity here. Each monstrous government may be built on the bones and delusions of the last, but it is no more a ‘Russia’ that is responsible for these crimes than there is a ‘Germany’ which still bears the sins of the Nazis. Insofar as a people or culture may not recognize or acknowledge the sins of their forefathers, they may be lambasted for their callousness, cruelty, and stupidity; but they do not bear the guilt of the sins themselves. I find karmic talk in that context uncomfortably close to the never-ending blood feuds of opposing nationalists.
No. Fuck that thinking. Authoritarians and their supporters deserve karmic destruction. End of.

Even war crimes against Nazi war criminals ultimately rob the hangman of his rightful due. Think of the hangman!
Oh man, wait until you learn about the guy who hung the Nazis.

I think you two are in agreement

Ah ok. I do feel that the world is in dire need of less retribution seeking and more truth and reconciliation.
